The Mysterium Lectures: A Journey Through C. G. Jung’s Mysterium Coniunctionis

It was the genius of C.G. Jung to discover in the arcane practice of alchemy a direct parallel to the psychological process of individuation.  That is the subject matter of Jung’s last major work and perhaps his most difficult: Mysterium Coniunctionis: An Inquiry into the Separation and Synthesis of Psychic opposites in Alchemy.

In the The Mysterium Lectures, originally presented over six months to members of the Jung Society of Los Angeles, Edinger works his way through Mysterium Coniunctionis paragraph by paragraph, illuminating both alchemical operations and Jung’s psychological interpretations.

Profusely illustrated with alchemical drawings and art work of all ages, and copiously indexed, these lectures provide a wealth of material for understanding modern dreams and other unconscious contents.

Anyone involved with his or her own psychological development is in effect an alchemist.  The Mysterium Lectures is first and foremost a practical guide to what is going on in the laboratory of the unconscious.
